Duplin County Busted Mugshots
When someone is booked into the Duplin County jail, the detention staff take a booking photo and open a record to go with it. That record can show the name the agency used, the admit date, the charges logged at intake, bond or release details, the arresting agency, and a custody status. Each field means something different. A charge is what officers wrote down. Bond reflects a separate decision. Custody status just tells you where the person is held right now.
Arrests happen across the county, from Wallace to Warsaw to Kenansville. A municipal police department, the Sheriff's Office, or another agency may make the arrest. Booking into the county detention system follows. The public can view current confinements, admits by date, charges, and arresting agency through the Sheriff's Inmate Search gateway, which points to Citizen Connect. The jail holds people under lawful authority, though it does not set bond or move court dates.
Charges in Duplin County are often reduced or dismissed, so the court file is the place to check how a case actually ended.
What Duplin Booking Records Show
A Citizen Connect result card carries several fields. What appears varies from record to record. One booking may show a field the next one lacks. The date an agency gives for an arrest or admit matters most, since it is easy to confuse with the later date of a court event. Some entries also carry an image state showing that no photo was supplied. The portal's own page source references a no-photo fallback. An entry without a visible photograph is still worth reading.
| Field | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Full name | The identity label used in the official result. Do not add an alias or merge similar names. |
| Booking or admit date | When the detention system records intake, not a conviction or sentence date. |
| Arrest or incident date | The event date when supplied in an arrest or incident context. |
| Charges | Alleged offenses recorded by the agency. They are not adjudicated findings. |
| Bond or release | A time-sensitive status that the detention facility does not set or change. |
| Arresting agency | The agency tied to the arrest, which may differ from the town where the event occurred. |
| Photo | A booking image only when the source record provides one. “No photo shown” is a valid result. |
| Court date or disposition | Later case information that should be confirmed through North Carolina eCourts or the Clerk. |
Copy names, dates, and charges exactly as the source shows them. Note where each detail came from, too. A third-party card might list age, sex, race, bond, or a detail date the county view leaves out. That does not make it more current. For current confinement, the official county system is the check that counts. For later case events, eCourts and the Clerk are the right stops.
Request a Duplin Booking Record
A record may age out of public view. A written request works best then. Duplin County's public-records page lists publicrecordsrequest@duplinnc.gov, 224 Seminary Street in Kenansville, and 910-296-2104. County policy allows requests in person, by mail, or by email. Phone requests are not accepted. Independent offices, the Sheriff's Office included, receive their own requests directly. So a booking-photo request should name the Sheriff's Office or Detention Records Unit, with the county address copied for routing.
- Identify the person, an approximate booking or arrest date, the arresting agency if known, and the exact record sought.
- Ask separately for the booking or confinement record, public charges, arresting agency, release field if maintained, and any booking photo that exists and is releasable.
- State a preferred format and a narrow date range. The policy asks requesters to give contact information, a clear description, and a date range.
- Ask for a written explanation if material is redacted or withheld, including the legal basis and any available remainder.
- Keep the response, any court order, and the original request together if a correction or expunction issue follows.

The county policy offers estimates rather than promises. Simple requests run five to ten business days, moderate ones ten to fifteen, and complex ones fifteen to twenty, while voluminous requests may follow a rolling schedule. Inspection is free. Standard paper copies cost $0.10 per page, electronic delivery carries no copy charge, special service runs $25 per hour, and specialized staff time bills at the actual hourly rate. Payment comes due before release when a charge applies.
North Carolina Mugshot Record Law
North Carolina General Statutes Chapter 132 opens with a broad rule. Most records held by government are public. G.S. 132-1 folds photographs and electronic data into that definition, within the law's limits. G.S. 132-1.4 spells out public arrest information: time, date, location, the nature of the violation, identifying details, circumstances of the arrest, and certain returned legal process. That same section walls off criminal-investigation material and honors the listed exemptions.
G.S. 15A-502 lets law enforcement photograph and fingerprint people in many felony and misdemeanor arrests, with statutory exceptions. That is why a booking image exists at all. It does not order the Sheriff to post every image online, though. Duplin's selected-information warning and Citizen Connect's no-photo state say more than any blanket claim that every mugshot is public.
A dismissal, a not-guilty verdict, or another qualifying outcome can open the door to expunction. The North Carolina Judicial Branch lays out the petition process. Eligibility turns on the charge, the outcome, and the statute. The general filing fee is $175, though some dismissed or not-guilty matters may cost nothing. Expect the process to take months. The petition goes to the Clerk in the county where the charge or conviction arose. Private publishers must be contacted separately once an order issues. An official expunction does not automatically rewrite every copied page.
Stick with official correction and court processes. Anyone promising a guaranteed paid takedown deserves skepticism. A publisher's free correction route, where one exists, is separate from the Sheriff's records and from an expunction petition.
Two outside services offer a backup path for getting a photo pulled. RecentlyBooked’s policy accepts free removal requests covering a wide range of cases, from dismissed and expunged records to wrong-person, juvenile, and duplicate entries. Mugshots.zone’s contact form takes document uploads and states a five-to-ten-day window for acknowledgment or removal. Keep the limits in mind. These are company policies, not court orders. Neither site holds any authority over the official Duplin record itself.
Find Duplin Recent Arrest Records
Name the custody situation before choosing a search tool. Someone booked moments ago shows up in a recent-admit view. A person still held appears under Current Confinements. Released people drop off the current roster fast, but the booking record stays out there for anyone willing to ask the right office. Once a sentence moves someone into state custody, the county jail search loses its usefulness and the NCDAC locator becomes the proper tool. Following that order keeps the systems from blurring together.
- Open the official Duplin County Inmate Search gateway and follow its Citizen Connect link.
- Check Current Confinements for present county custody, then use Admits by Date Range for a recent booking window.
- Use the Charge and Arresting Agency views when a charge term or town agency matters. Keep a custom date range to 31 days or less.
- Check the Daily Report or official Arrest Search when the question concerns an arrest event instead of current custody.
- Use eCourts for hearings and disposition, NCDAC for state prison, probation, or parole records, and a written records request when the public view is incomplete.
A name missing from one view proves nothing. Duplin allows the Sheriff or another agency to hold back selected information. Reporting can also lag behind the actual arrest. Try the same name again with the arresting agency and the date attached. If a formal record matters, go straight to the custodian of that record rather than trusting a single screen.
Where Duplin Mugshots Appear
Start with official sources. Move to outside indexes only afterward. Each listing below covers a different custody state and record type, so they are not interchangeable. Note: "Photo" here means a source may show an image when one exists, not that every person listed has one.
| Channel | Photo? | Authority and access |
|---|---|---|
| Citizen Connect booking portal | Sometimes | Official county roster, admits, charges, and arresting-agency views. |
| Daily Report | Not promised | Official date-bounded incidents, arrests, bookings, wanted, and missing-person filters. |
| Arrest Search | Not promised | Official arrest-specific date search. |
| Duplin Sheriff records request | Custodian decides | Written request to the Sheriff or Detention Records Unit. |
| NCDAC offender search | No public photo promise | State prison, probation, parole, and historical records, not county jail custody. |
| WITN and WECT | Story-specific | Event-driven news. Not a complete roster or official custody source. |
| Busted Newspaper | Operator-specific | Unofficial Duplin index. Local page fetch was not independently verified here. |
| RecentlyBooked | Sometimes | Unofficial rolling index; verify names, dates, and images with Citizen Connect. |
| Mugshots.com | Often image-oriented | Unofficial historical index with year and first-letter navigation. |
| Arrests.org and Mugshots.zone | Operator-specific | Unofficial copies with differing fields and archive behavior. |
Third-party pages carry real quirks. They can stay online after the official portal updates, or stamp a date on a card that is not the county’s admit date. Treat them as leads, nothing more. A card on an outside site cannot confirm current confinement or show the full Duplin picture. For that, open the Citizen Connect screen. It offers the county’s central booking search instead of a wall of faces. When a date or custody status matters, that live source settles the question.

The screenshot just shows the search screen itself. Results shift constantly, and some cards carry no photo. The live county page always holds the current answer.
Busted and Booked in the County Roster
The county gateway’s released-inmate view only reaches back 24 hours. Citizen Connect goes much further. Its options include Current Confinements, Last 24 Hours, Last 7 Days, custom admit windows, charges, and arresting-agency filters. Each answers a different question. A current-confinement result tells you who is held now. An admit-date result tells you who came in during a chosen window. A charge search is simply a charge search, not a court finding. The county also warns that its public page changes quickly and that selected people or fields may be left out.
| Roster control | Use it for | Limit to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Current Confinements | People shown as held now | Does not preserve everyone who was released. |
| Admits by Date Range | Bookings in a defined window | Use windows of 31 days or less. |
| Charges | Search by charge text | Listed charges are charges. |
| Arresting Agency | Separate Sheriff, Wallace, Warsaw, or other agency records | Agency and city are not always the same thing. |
| Released Inmates | Recent releases | The county gateway limits this view to the previous 24 hours. |
- Start with the county gateway so the agency and warning are clear.
- Run Current Confinements, then repeat with a short admit-date range.
- Open the official result and note the name, date, agency, charges, status, and photo state.
- Check court records separately if a later outcome matters.
No official Duplin booking-photo app exists. HomeWAV, linked from the county visitation page, handles visits and smartphone access, but it is neither a roster nor a photo search. Citizen Connect’s Alerts page sends text and email notices about be-on-the-lookout messages, road closures, missing or wanted persons, and prior-day events. Handy, sure. Still not a booking-photo feed.
Busted Last Night? Check the Date Windows
For same-day checks, use Citizen Connect’s Last 24 Hours option plus the county’s short released-inmate view. Call it what it is. The view is not a complete list of today’s arrests. A booking may still be processing, may be excluded, or may belong to another agency. A person released today can vanish from Current Confinements while the admit record stays findable in a date search.
The multi-day path runs through the Daily Report and the booking portal’s Admits by Date Range. The Daily Report sorts all records, incidents, arrests, bookings, most wanted, and missing persons across a chosen date interval. Its own warning notes that incident and accident reports may lag up to 72 hours after filing. One more tool deserves mention. The Arrest Search is a separate official date-oriented option, better suited when the question is a single arrest event rather than a broad activity report.
Write down the date range and the source each time you check recent bookings. Note: Saying a name was "shown by the official portal at the time checked" beats claiming every arrest appears instantly.
Weekly and weekend activity creates gaps. An event, an admit, a report, and a news story can each land at a different moment, and a local article may beat the Daily Report entry while a booking card surfaces before any court case is searchable. The official pages are dynamic, so open them live rather than copying cards into a static photo list. The Daily Report’s interface fits this pattern well. It frames a bounded interval without pretending to be a permanent feed.

The image makes the point plainly. A report interval and current custody are two different things, so pick the window and category with care.
North Carolina State Custody Search
State custody works differently from county custody. The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction runs one search that reaches current prison offenders, probationers, parolees, and records going back to 1972. County jail info is left out, and NCDAC says so plainly. You can search by last name, first name, middle initial, a sounds-like surname, offender number, gender, race, ethnic group, birth date, age range, or status. Just know it is a custody and supervision locator. It does not promise a mugshot.
Think of the systems as a chain. Someone who leaves Duplin detention for a state sentence lands in NCDAC's records, while a person still held locally, or just out, stays with Citizen Connect and county sources. NCSAVAN adds alert options for custody changes by phone, email, and the VINEMobile app at 1-877-627-2826. It tracks participating jails and Adult Corrections, but skips police precincts, some local facilities, juveniles, and anyone released by a magistrate before entering a participating jail.
Federal and immigration detentions sit outside all of this. The Bureau of Prisons locator finds federal inmates from 1982 forward using a name or register number, with no public booking-photo field. The ICE locator needs an exact A-number plus country of birth, or equally exact identity details, for people held by ICE or CBP beyond 48 hours. Neither one doubles as a Duplin roster.
Booked, Held, Released, or Sentenced
Booked, held, released, sentenced. Each word marks a different point in the life of a record. A name can hop from one system to the next as a case moves along, and an older third-party copy may linger online after the official status has changed. Check the label against the right source. That habit keeps a fresh booking from reading as current custody or as a finished court outcome.
| Status | Best source | What the source can establish |
|---|---|---|
| Just booked | Citizen Connect admits, Arrest Search, or Daily Report | An official entry may show an admit or arrest record; a photo is not guaranteed. |
| In county custody | Current Confinements | The public system shows the person as confined when checked. |
| Released | Prior-24-hour release view, admit search, or records request | The current roster may drop the person while the booking record remains obtainable. |
| State custody or supervision | NCDAC offender search and NCSAVAN | State prison, probation, parole, or custody-change information, not county jail status. |
| Federal or immigration custody | BOP or ICE locator | The separate federal or immigration system’s current inclusion rules. |
After a Duplin County Booking
North Carolina's first-appearance rules explain why booking data and court data show up on different clocks. Under G.S. 15A-601, a person held in custody generally goes before a judge within 72 hours or at the first regular session. A 96-hour backup rule applies when the courthouse stays closed past 72 hours. G.S. 15A-511 covers the magistrate's initial appearance without unnecessary delay.
Duplin moved onto North Carolina Odyssey/eCourts on February 3, 2025. The official Portal can display case details, hearings, events, financial information, and dispositions. The Clerk of Superior Court sits at 910-275-7000. Magistrates are at 910-275-7019. A courthouse file may hold an outcome the booking card never shows, and a police report is its own document, not a court file.
Read the disposition. A dismissed or reduced charge can stay visible in an older index unless the official correction and expunction paths are followed.
- Booking
- The jail intake process after an arrest or commitment.
- Bond
- A release condition or amount addressed through the court and magistrate process, not set by detention staff.
- Disposition
- The later court result, such as dismissal, plea, or another resolution.
- Expunction
- A court process that can remove, seal, or destroy eligible records under North Carolina law.
Older Duplin Records and Archives
The State Archives sheriff schedule catalogs inmate-incarceration records in detail: entry and release summaries, detainee arrest sheets, commitment and release orders, work-release material, pretrial agreements, and related files. Most of it is slated for destruction in the office three years after release or transfer, unless an audit or litigation hold intervenes. Weekly inmate lists sent to the Clerk can be destroyed once superseded or obsolete. A separate identification-photograph series exists on the schedule too. No clear modern booking-photo disposition line is spelled out.
That retention rule is not a promise a photo stays online for three years. Portal availability, agency retention, and a third-party archive are three separate things. For deeper history, turn to the State Archives catalog, county-records box lists, DigitalNC's Duplin Times collection, and the newspaper guide rather than a current roster. An old article adds context. It cannot prove anyone is in custody now.
Busted Mugshots by Duplin City
The county's 2020 municipal chart puts Wallace at 3,883 people and Warsaw at 3,108. Kenansville holds the county seat. It belongs in the required city set even though Rose Hill outranks it on that chart. Each city page lays out the local agency and points booking questions back to the county system. One caution: a town name on a record may identify the arresting agency or an event location, not a separate jail.
- Wallace Busted Mugshots: Wallace Police is the local agency contact; county detention remains the booking path.
- Warsaw Busted Mugshots: Warsaw Police is full-service, but no public city mugshot log was located.
- Kenansville Busted Mugshots: the county-seat page separates town police, Sheriff, detention, and court contacts.
Towns elsewhere in the county have varied police arrangements. Greenevers, for instance, gets its police service from Sheriff's deputies, while the county resource list links a number of municipal departments. When no town publishes its own roster, start with the central county search. It is the safest first stop.
